Winners of the Sustainability Award
Northstone Materials is proud to announce that we have been named the winners of the Sustainability Award at the CIHT Northern Ireland 2026 Gala Dinner & Awards, held in the iconic Transport Museum.
This award recognises the transformative impact of our flagship Craigantlet Asphalt Plant, which is pioneering the future of low-carbon roads in Northern Ireland.
At Craigantlet, we have invested in cutting-edge technology and circular construction practices that enable the production of asphalt with up to 70%+ RAP, the highest capability in NI, dramatically reducing carbon emissions and supporting key UN Sustainable Development Goals. With warm-mix functionality, flexible configuration for next-generation materials, and potential for low-carbon fuel operation, the plant represents a major leap forward for sustainable infrastructure.
A special mention goes to our Sustainability Advisor, Hanna Miskimmin, for developing and submitting the award entry. Her work has been instrumental in showcasing the innovation, ambition, and environmental impact of the Craigantlet project.
Beyond environmental performance, the plant strengthens local supply chains, supports skilled employment and acts as a regional testbed for future-ready materials, demonstrating that Northern Ireland is prepared to embrace a lower-carbon highways sector.
Congratulations to everyone involved and well done to all finalists and winners across the CIHT NI Awards. Together, we are shaping a more resilient, sustainable future for our industry.
