Engineered low-carbon, concrete solutions for construction.
CEVO
Concrete Evolution.
CEVO is a range of low-carbon concretes with key performance credentials including increased durability, increased early age strength and reduced heat of hydration. Bespoke designs enabling embodied carbon reductions of 30% and greater versus traditional concrete (CEM I).
What is low Carbon Concrete (LCC)?
Low Carbon concretes have similar properties, durability, performance, and quality of use, equivalent to those of conventional concrete while emitting at least 30% less carbon.
Northstone and its parent company, CRH, have an ambition to reach net zero by 2050.
CRH has set an industry-leading target to reduce absolute CO2 emissions across the Group by 30% by 2030 (from a 2021 baseline). The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated CRH’s near-term science-based carbon emissions reduction targets in line with a 1.5°C pathway.
Our LCCs are identified by our CEVO brand and are benchmarked into three ratings, B, A and A+, based on CO2 percentage reductions, classified through our rating system.
Aligned with R-Score rating system
Low carbon concrete products are aligned to our new rating system, R-Score, to demonstrate carbon reductions in concrete mixes. Put simply, a concrete mix with a rating of B or better is a CEVO low carbon concrete. We establish the R-Score of each mix through our carbon footprint calculator and provide the mix specific embodied carbon values via our carbon footprint reports. Find out more here hyperlink to Carbon footprint report.
What concrete carbon rating do you want to achieve?
CEVO Lower Carbon concrete range is available in three types determined by the CO2 reductions they achieve. Using R-Score, application type and performance requirements we can tailor our CEVO products to fit your performance needs while also providing a low carbon solution and R-Score rating

Performance Benefits of Low Carbon Concrete
Low-carbon concrete is designed to reduce CO2 emissions during production by using alternative materials.
Low-carbon concrete can be as durable and long-lasting as traditional concrete, which is an essential attribute for construction materials.
Low-carbon concrete can achieve comparable strength to traditional concrete, depending on the specific mix design and the intended application.
Low-carbon concrete can be used in a wide variety of applications, including structural and non-structural uses, easy to use & place & suitable for pumping.
Low-carbon concrete options are available nationwide from Northstone RMC locations.
CEVO+ wireless concrete monitoring enables you to optimise concrete performance onsite to improve quality, efficiency and sustainability.
Using real-time monitoring and AI predictions on concrete strength and temperature to strike formwork up to 40% faster. Take action at the perfect moment, no more waiting for concrete test lab results.
