Traffic Calming Surfacing
Northstone is the sole agent in Ireland for Prismo’s special surface treatments and we offer the full range of coloured surfacings to provide cost-effective solutions to traffic calming problems.
Using coloured surfacings, it is possible to give both a visual and sensory message to drivers and to reinforce demarcated areas, such as bus lanes, protected right-turns and traffic signs. These systems may also be used to highlight cycle lanes in both on and off road applications.
Textureflex®
A hot screed applied surface treatment incorporating high PSV coloured aggregates within a coloured polymer modified thermoplastic binder. Typically 3-5mm thick when laid, and available in red, green and yellow, it is ideal for most traffic calming applications such as village gateways, rumble strips, central hatching, bus bays, speed roundels and mini-roundabouts. Also used for dressing cycle tracks, both on and off road, Textureflex is suitable for areas of heavy trafficking, for example, advanced stop lines and across junctions.
Tyregrip 924
Tyregrip 924 is a modified epoxy resin which can be pigmented for use with natural or coloured aggregates to give an effective traffic calming or decorative surface. A range of high PSV coloured aggregates are produced. Colour is enhanced using the latest lead-free pigments and resin coating techniques to provide better colour stability and performance. The product is available in a variety of colours in both highway and pedestrian grades, including red, green, yellow, blue and black, or bespoke natural aggregates.
