First Prismo Colourbright In Ireland

On the 13th and 14th May, our Special Products Team installed the very first Prismo Colourbright™ retro-reflecting material in Ireland on the A24 Belfast to Newcastle Road (around four miles south of Ballynahinch).

Laid on a polymer modified bitumen scratch-coat, the Colourbright system uses Prismo's patented Clusterbead® technology embedded in a coloured two-part epoxy resin. After applying the Clusterbeads using a special bead distributor, the resin is dressed with pigmented resin-coated grit.

The new product is used to give warning of road hazards and accident black-spots day and night, particularly in poorly lit or unlit areas. The retro-reflective Clusterbeads come into their own at night as oncoming vehicle headlights light up the hazard in a highly visible fashion in the driver's field of view.

At one trial site in England, accidents, including fatalities and serious injuries, dropped from ten in the previous two years to none over the two year period following Colourbright installation.

Colourbright is available in red, yellow, green, white and 'stealth' grey.
