Safety Team
Under the leadership of Brian Watt, the health and safety team consists of David Smyth and John Evans.
David has been employed within the Northstone Group for over 30 years of which 21 years has been fully dedicated to health and safety. John has recently joined the Division having worked within the Construction Sector as a Health and Safety Adviser.
Their responsibilities include compliance with all statutory health and safety legislation, providing advice and guidance to all our employees, accident investigation, preparation of select list, pre-tender and construction phase health and safety plans, training delivery, safety documentation, liaising with contractors, and carrying out workplace health and safety audits.
They also regularly meet with the health and safety professionals from the other Northstone Divisions to formulate initiatives and share experiences. They also attend CRH Safety Best Practice meetings with the health and safety professionals from other CRH Europe Materials companies.
The Division is represented on the QPANI (Quarry Products Association for Northern Ireland), professional bodies and other external Health and Safety Committees.
